Summer is the favorite season for many people around the world. There’s plenty of sunshine, the weather is warm, we go on vacations and we have beach fun – who can say no to this? However, all these summer activities can make our skin acne – prone, or leave our hair dry, or even make our feet cracked.
It’s very important to give your body the proper care, so that you can look and feel your best. Instead of throwing away money on store – bought beauty products, you can make your own homemade, organic alternatives that work just as good! 1. Lavender Green Tea Foot Soak
Walking barefoot on sand or on rocks might be fun beach activity for some, but it might damage your feet’s skin. It can make it cracked and dry. After a day at the beach, it’s good to give your feet the proper care. One of the ways to do so is to soak them. Prepare your foot soak with these ingredients – 1 cup epsom salt, 2 tea bags or 2 tsp loose green tea, 2 tsp fresh or dried lavender buds, 1/2 tsp lavender essential oil, 1 cup capacity jar, sachet, or other sealed container, foot tub or bucket and 8 quarts warm water.
2. Hair Mask with Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil
Swimming in the sea or in the pool can be fun, but the salt and the chlorine can damage your hair – they will leave it dry and lifeless. Homemade masks are always one of the best options for saving your hair and bringing back its healthy look. To make your own hair mask, you need 1/4 cup of aloe vera and 1/4 cup of coconut oil as well. Alow vera is well – known for promoting hair growth and preventing scalp – itching, while the coconut oil prevents hair breakage and split ends.
3. Milk and Honey Body Wash
Your skin care can definitely benefit out of a body wash such as this one. Milk and honey is a long – known combination – it is known that the famous Egyptian ruler Cleopatra, who used to bath in milk and honey. This would give you such luxurious and gentle feeling to your skin! To make your own, use 1/2 cup full-fat unsweetened coconut milk, 1/2 cup baby mild castile soap, 1/3 cup honey, 7 drops sweet orange essential oil and 2 tsp vegetable glycerin optional. Note that you should use this body wash just when you need it – it doesn’t last long.
4. Lemon Vanilla Body Butter
This body butter smells so good that it would make you want to try it! But, stick to its purpose – to hydrate our skin and make it soft. Homemade body butter not only will help you achieve your skin goals, but they are also cheaper than store-bought products – they will also save you money. There are many ingredients that you can use, but we recommend you this butter made of 1 cup coconut oil, ½ cup shea butter, ½ tsp lemon extract and 5 drops vanilla extract.
5. Exfoliating Face Scrub
Face scrubs have few benefits – they remove dead cell skin and they remove the dirt away. These two actions help in having better looking skin. How much should you do exfoliating depends on your skin type, but usually you should one or two times per week – scrubbing your skin is definitely not something you should do too often. You can make your own by using 2 tablespoons plus one teaspoon unrefined sea salt, 1 tablespoon raw honey and 1 tablespoon oil.
6. Face Mask with Spirulina
Our face skin is one of the most sensitive areas on our body – it takes just a little bit of dirtiness and it can get acne outbreak or other inflammation. Luckily, there is a huge number of face mask recipes that you can easily do in your home and still get the desired results – not to mention that many times organic can be better option for many people. Here’s one recipe to try – 1/2 tsp. spirulina powder, 1 ripe banana and 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice.
7. Lavender Lip Scrub
All the intense sun, the sea salt and the winds can make your lips chappy and they will lose their softness. In this case, the best way to help your lips get their sexy back is to make your own scrub. This is really easy, as you always need just few ingredients, and you can experiment with them too. For this one, you need 1/4 cup sugar, 1 to 2 tbsp coconut oil and 4 drops lavender oil – or you can pick any essential oil by your choice.
8. Raspberry Lip Balm
Once you have removed all the excess skin and dirt out of your lips, it’s time to pamper them a little bit with a homemade lip balm! It’s organic 100% and it’s very easy to prepare it. With beautiful, decorative storage containers, you can even give them away as gift. To make your own lip balm, you need just three ingredients: 3 freeze dried raspberries, 2 tablespoons coconut oil and 2 tablespoons beeswax – all three will make your lips soft and glowy!
9. Rose Water
The rose water has many benefits, and we’ll mention just few – it controls excess oil on our skin and it helps to maintain the needed pH. It has anti – inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties, all making the rose water being able to heal scars, reduce redness, fight acne and remove dirtiness. To make your own rose water, you need fresh roses, water, large pot for preparing it and decorative bottle for storage.
10. Eye Soothers
The skin around our eyes and including our eye lids is very thin and sensitive and it can easily become red and puffy, caused by stress, poor diet, fatigue or other changes that your body experiences. Natural remedies, such as eye soothers, can be really helpful, as they soothe and relax the skin. To make your own, you need two 1/2-inch-thick cucumber slices, bed of ice, two egg whites, witch hazel and two chamomile, green, or black tea bags.
