Top 10 Makeup Mistakes That Make You Look Older

Мake-up is designed to highlight our natural beauty, to bring to the fore our best features, and not the opposite. But, many women sometimes make mistakes that instead of bringing their best features to the surface they just hide them.

If you apply makeup the wrong way it is very possible that it can age you. Here are the top 10 makeup mistakes that you should avoid doing, and whenever you do your makeup remember – keep it simple because less is more!

 Too Much Powder Foundation

The picture says it all! A thick layer of foundation can add even up to 10 years to your actual age. Always have that in mind, one, or maximum of two layers of the foundation is enough to cover your minor imperfections and deceive look to healthy and radiant skin. Plus, by using less foundation you will save money and will extend its shelf life.

Too Much Loose Powder

The loose powder can easily fill your pores, especially if you have oily and complicated skin. We know that it is good to set the makeup with powder, but if you consider your skin as aged skin, you better skip that step, a little shine can be removed with wipes that are specially made for removing the oils from your face.

Too Much Shimmer

If you decide to apply shimmer – be careful! You should know that it can make you look older and it will pick up every tiny line you have and emphasize its importance. Instead of shimmer, you can add a highlight to your cheekbones, the center of your nose, brow bone, the inner corners of your eyes, and some other spots on your face you want to highlight. But never apply it all over, and remember – don’t overdo anything!

Overdoing Lip Liner

Lining the lips serves to visually increase the lips. We know that the liner has to be some shades darker than the lipstick to achieve that “bigger lips” effect, but don’t make the mistake of applying much darker lip liner, or going out with nothing but liner on your lips, and another thing you should remember is to never exaggerate the lips more than 1 or 2 mm over your natural lip line,  it can make you look so unnatural.

Too “Natural” Foundation

If you want to achieve the “natural look” it doesn’t mean that you have to go with a bare face. No one has perfect skin, so don’t hesitate to cover up the imperfections. If you don’t want the heavy look, use some light foundation or bb/cc cream.

Don’t Use Liner and Mascara on The Lower Lash Line

This is a mistake that most women do, when you apply too much eyeliner and mascara on the lower lid, it can make your eyes look droopy and draw attention to your dark circles. So skip the lower lashes, and focus on the upper, curl them and coat them gently with mascara.

Heavy Under Eyes Concealer

If you want to cover up the dark circles around the eyes, be careful not to overdo the concealer, choose the right shade and avoid light concealer, because when you apply it, it can look very unnatural and messy. The most important thing about concealer – blend it very well!

Too Matte Lipstick

Too matte lipstick can emphasize the little lines around your lips, so if you don’t want that to happen add some lip gloss above the lipstick, but just a little bit, our suggestion is to apply it just on the center of your lips. Don’t overdo the lip gloss either, because it can look unpleasant.

Smiling While Applying the Blush

Blush can make you look fresh and add a healthy color to your face, but if you apply it the wrong way it can add age too. If you are younger, then this technique is good for you, but as you are getting older, the skin gets saggier and the blush can’t be evenly spreаd all over the cheeks.

Too Dark Eyebrows

If you have thin eyebrows, and you want to make them more visible by lining them, remember this: always use a pencil that is one or two shades lighter than your natural eyebrow color, so you won’t look scary and older than you really are.
