The holidays are over, but national days are here to stay. Today, January 2 is a National Cream Puff Day which is widely celebrated by all pastry and dessert lovers across the nation. This rich french dessert originated in Europe sometime during the 1540’s when Catherine de Medici’s pastry chef created the baked puffed shells for her husband, France’s Henry II. However, they have been around in the United States since 1880. Cream puffs are also known as profiterole and choux a la creme and they can be filled with whipped cream, pastry cream ice cream or custard. If you’re a big fan of this dessert then this day is a good excuse for you to bake some of these divine cream puffs which we’ve collected just for you.
