Most of us prefer lighter hair in summer. Lighter and shiny hair goes perfectly with sun-tanned skin. You already imagine yourself with lighter hair, right? But you don’t want to damage your hair, and you are afraid of drastic change, and you are not sure how would it look on you?
Well, first try these natural ways to lighten your hair. After two or three uses, you will see little change, and step by step, you can decide if you like it or not, so you get your natural hair color back after few washes if you want to.
But if you like it, then use these methods often (every day or every second day) and after 10 to 15 uses you will get your new look, with home natural recipes and on such inexpensive ways, instead of going in a beauty salon and spend a lot of money.
Honey and Vinegar
Mix these two ingredients and then apply onto damp hair. Wrap your hair in plastic wrap. Leave the mixture on overnight and then wash it out in the morning.
Brew a strong pot of chamomile tea and let cool. Saturate your hair in the tea, then hang out in the sun until it’s dry. After few uses, you will see obvious results.
Baking soda is also a natural alternative to chemical-filled shampoos that also lightens hair color. When you go to shower, sprinkle your hair with baking soda and give it a good rub-down. The paste that develops should bleach your hair naturally.
Add cinnamon powder to a small handful of conditioner and then evenly coat your hair from top to bottom. Leave the mixture on overnight. Rinse and shampoo in the morning. Your hair will smell nice too!
Combine a quarter cup of warm water with one full cup of lemon juice and put the mixture on your hair. Go out into the sunlight to dry your hair. This way, you will get the most from the lightning effect and create a more dramatic ‘beach’ effect.
Take about 8 or 9 Vitamin C tablets, crush them and mix with your shampoo. Shampoo as usual and then condition. Vitamin C will also keep your hair healthy.
Mix 1 part salt with about 5 parts water and rinse your hair. Allow to sit in hair for at least 15 minutes and then rinse clean. The sea salt can also lighten your hair, so if you live near the sea, swim more often, and you’ll see the results.
Slather on some olive oil and let it set in your hair for a minimum of 30 minutes. The olive oil not only brings out your natural highlights but also nourishes your hair.
Just bring ¼ cup chopped rhubarb to 2 cups water to boil and then allow it to cool completely. Strain and use the liquid as a rinse. Leave the rinse on for about 10 minutes, and then rinse clean with water.
Mix equal amounts of henna powder and chamomile powder and add them to boiling water. Let the mixture cool, and then comb it into your wet hair. Leave the mixture for about an hour (if you have darker hair, you can leave it for up to 2 hours). Then rinse the mixture from your hair.
