There are so many great actors in Hollywood. Some are on the scene for decades, and some got popular few years ago. But, when it comes to the Academy Awards, it doesn’t mean that the longer you act, the more chances you have on winning one. Sometimes, no matter how good you act too, you still might not win! This is the case of actors that we love and seen acting in so many awesome movies. Some of the most famous actors haven’t won an Oscar yet, and we’re talking about great actors such as Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp. Wondering who are the other actors? Read below – you will be surprised!
1. Leonardo DiCaprio
In the past few years we all read about how Leonardo DiCaprio hasn’t won an Oscar yet, when he acted in the best movies that go out every year. He was nominated six times for an Oscar. In 1993 Leo was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, he was nominated three times for Best Actor – in 2005 for his act in The Aviator, in 2007 for Blood Diamond and in 2014 for The Wolf of Wall Street. He was also nominated in the Best Picture (as producer) category for The Wolf of Wall Street. This year he is nominated for Best Actor in The Revenant. Do you think he is finally going to win this year? We’re crossing fingers!
2. Samuel L. Jackson
Samuel L. Jackson appeared in more than 100 movies and yet he has never won an Oscar! In fact, he was only once nominated and that is back in 1994 for Best Supporting Actor in Pulp Fiction. He has won many other awards, such as BAFTA Award for Best Actor in Supporting Role in Pulp Fiction, Black Reel Award for Best Supporting Award for Django Unchained and Mother and Child, an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature in Eve’s Bayou, four NAACP Image Awards and even six Film Critic Awards, not not even one Oscar!
3. John Travolta
You may wonder how is it possible that such a great actor such as John Travolta hasn’t won an Oscar by now. We agree, it doesn’t seem right, when he acted in many great movies such as two of the most famous 70’s movies, Saturday Night Fever and Grease. Thanks to these two, Travolta made his way through the industry. As time passed, he acted in other great movies, which led to two Academy Award nominations. He was nominated in 1978 for his role in Saturday Night Fever, and then almost two decades later, he was nominated in 1994 for his role in Pulp Fiction.
4. Johnny Depp
One of the most charming actors of all time, Johnny Depp was nominated only three times for an Academy Award. In his acting career, Johnny was nominated for few other awards, such as MTV Movie Awards and People’s Choice Awards, from which he was nominated 16 times, and won 14 of the nominations.
5. Bill Murray
Bill Murray is active in the film industry from 1976, and even though he acted in so many great movies, some of them even considered as classics today (Who you gonna call? He was nominated for Best Actor in Sofia Coppola’s movie Lost in Translation, where he acted together with Scarlett Johansson. This movie was huge for him – that year he had 29 nominations and won 18 of them.
6. Harrison Ford
Is there anyone who doesn’t love Indiana Jones or Han Solo? Harrison Ford become such an iconic actor with his role in Indiana Jones and Star Wars. These movies were such a huge hit back in the days when they got out, but what makes them really great is that these movies today are considered as epic. Ford also acted in other great movies such as Blade Runner and Witness, but neither of these movies got him the Oscar. However, he never won an Academy Award, but in 200 Ford won an AFI Life Achievement Award for his long contribution in the movie industry. That’s pretty awesome, isn’t it?
7. Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise began his acting career back in the 80’s, and got popular with his role as Pete Maverick Mitchell in one of the most known movies from that decade – Top Gun. After that, he enriched his portfolio with many other great movies, such as Interview with the Vampire, Mission: Impossible, Vanilla Sky, The Last Samurai, Valkyrie and many others. As you can guess by now, neither of these got him an Oscar. Instead of that, he has received other awards, such as Golden Globe Award, People’s Choice Awards and Empire Award. In his entire career, he has 80 nominations, of which he won 29.
8. Robert Downey Jr.
