Top 10 Eye Makeup Tricks

We all know that makeup is the best friend for most women around the world, and some of us can’t picture ourselves not wearing it. Makeup is another tool to appear more attractive.

But the first thing people usually notice about your appearance, are the eyes. Eye makeup can really change the way you look, open your eyes, and brighten the face.

The mascara is very important, it makes our lashes look so much longer and fuller, the eyeshadows can help you manipulate your eye shape and change it, and the pencils can elongate the eyes. Here are 10 beauty tricks for eye makeup.

1. Find Your Eye Shape

Eyes are beautifully diverse in different varieties of sizes, shapes, and colors. And each eye shape comes with different makeup tricks and tips to enhance. Although any eye shape can wear any type of makeup they please, it’s recommended to know, similar to how a dress might look better on a particular body type. Once you determine your eye shape, you will have a much better chance of creating a look that flatters your specific form. You will be able to tailor your favorite makeup, which is sure to turn a few heads.

2. Home-made Eye Primer

One of the secrets of keeping the eye looking great is using an eye primer. There are great ways to do them by yourself at home. The eye primer helps the makeup to last longer, and prevent the eyeshadows from creasing and fading. The skin has natural oils (much appreciated) which can make the eyeshadow a little break, fragmented, and non-existent after a few hours of wearing it. So, home-made eyeshadow primers can keep it looking better and last longer.

3. Find the correct Eyebrow shape for you

Embarking on the journey to discover the ideal eyebrow shape has the power to revolutionize and elevate your entire makeup aesthetic. Beyond merely framing the face, well-groomed eyebrows serve as architectural elements that enhance your features, providing a polished and sophisticated finish to your look. In this pursuit, it becomes essential to consider the nuances of modern eyebrow shapes, tailoring the design to harmonize seamlessly with your unique facial structure. This personalized approach not only fosters balance and symmetry but also serves as a transformative canvas for your makeup artistry, allowing each application to radiate enhanced beauty and individuality.

4. The Benefits of White Eyeshadow

White is the perfect base color to use on eyelids when wanting to intensify any color shadow you choose to apply next. Even a concealer can be used so other colors can look as intense, bright, and colorful as they are. But honestly, white is actually a shade that can make quite a statement when you know how to use it. You want to highlight or define, create a dramatic eye look, and be calm yet glittery, definitely consider using the power of white eyeshadow!

5. Baby Powder on the Eyelashes Before and Between Mascara Coasts

This is a total beauty hack and myth! If you want your eyelashes to look thick and “fake”, try this beauty tip that suggests dusting baby powder on your eyelashes in between mascara coats. Who doesn’t like thick and dramatic eyelashes that make eyes pop? It’s budget-friendly and saves a ton of time when you are in a hurry instead of applying false eyelashes with all the glue mess. Having glam eyelashes means you can keep the rest of the makeup minimal, still looking simple and elegant.

6. Heat the Lash Curler With Blow Dryer

Curled eyelashes give you that cute doll eye effect, making you look more alert. You can achieve this effect by heating your regular eyelash curler with a hairdryer. Especially if your eyelashes are straight, this technique is ideal. And if you are concerned about not burning the delicate eye area, try testing the curler on the back of your hand or wrist too, make sure it’s cool enough before using.

7. Double Liner For Sophisticated Look

Another makeup trend if you are looking to amplify your look, is to try double eyeliner. This means applying two wings in two different colors. So if you are not a classic person and like experimenting you might like it. Basically, it takes two steps. First, you will need to start with creating a cat-eye style with your classic eyeliner brush, and after adding another line on top but this time in another color. You can be as adventurous as you like when choosing the second eyeliner color.

8. Use Tweezers to Separate the Lashes

I think every woman has mastered the art of clumping her lashes with mascara. Super frustrating especially after an award-winning makeup application, you wait until the end to apply your mascara, and oh no! Women try anything to separate the mascara clump into perfectly aligned lashes. Eyelash brush is the best, however, if you don’t have one then tweezers are surely in your makeup kit.

9. Use Scotch Tape to Shape the Eye Shadow

During the everyday “struggle” to look flawless, makeup plays a vital role. At one point every woman had a fallout from eye makeup on the cheeks and under the eye area spiling the well-blended foundation. To avoid such situations here is a simple and easy trick by applying scotch tape. If you don’t have tapes specially made for these scenarios, here is a tip: avoid using the transparent strong scotch but instead use the milky one which is softer, or first stick on your hand, then put on your face.

10. Cut the False Eyelashes to Half for Natural Look

An easy way to apply false eyelashes is to cut the strip in half, and apply both pieces separately which will make it easier to work into the lash line and look more natural. Applying half stripe or individual pieces you will achieve a natural or daytime look you can have throughout. By applying a full strip eyelash it will give you a smokier, filling, and more nighttime look. There is no wrong way, more of a preference.

11. Hairspray to Set the Eyebrows

On the days when your eyebrows are acting like an unruly child and you have no eyebrow mascara to put those rogue hairs in place, you can apply hairspray on your regular brow brush. Then brush to sweep the hairs from the inner corners to the arch up toward your hairline. Then change the angle to smooth the hairs at the tail end towards the top of your ears. If you don’t have a brow brush, a toothbrush will do its job.

  1. The eye shapes are weird and incomplete. Apparently only Asians have upturned eyes? Whatever, I’m completely Caucasion (I don’t know how to spell that) and have EXTREMELY upturned eyes. If I did winged liner following the line of my lower lashline, my liner would be going almost straight up. Not an exaggeration.

  2. Using baby on the eyelashes isn’t to smart especially for contact lens wearers. I tried it before putting in my contacts and the residue of the powder still got into my eye and gave me a irritating feeling and it felt as though it dried my eyes once my contacts were in. I would find a different solution!

    • Of course using ‘Baby’ on the eye lashes isn’t good!!! you’d have to be a murderer to get that!?!?!?!?!? XD

    • Spray hairspray onto an applicator brush and it won’t go everywhere. I use a round brush from an old mascara tube – c;leaned and saved the brush for combing brows, …

    • Prob best to spray the brush and then apply to your lashes.. Not good for the skin but..it is a last resort to set your makeup lol (it does work well for that too) keep your eyes closed tight!

  3. i’ve used hairspray on my eyebrows bot how you’re thinking… Don’t spray it directly on but spray the liquid bottled hairspray onto a small toothbrush then tame your brows with the brush! The toothbrushes build up with thick dried goo over time so I change every few months & soak them in alcohol to remove the goo! Voila! Best kept secret!

  4. i’ve been using baby powder and coconut oil on my eye lashes & brows for 35 years. You couldn’t ask for a more natural way to enhance your eyelashes and brows. The coconut oil will make your lashes stronger and grown and also helps your brows grow.

I don’t know why someone would think to actually “spray” hairspray on their face! I would think that common sense would kick in and the idea of using an eyebrow brush with spraying hair spray on the brush, or spray on your finger and smooth over brows, or use a baby toothbrush and spray it then smooth over brows.

    • Was fairly common practice back in the 90s,, before fixing sprays were readily available. It would be a tiny spritz in the air then walk through it with eyes closed. Make up would then last all day even if it was cheap stuff and wasn’t at all sticky if done right

  5. I have contacts and I use baby powder all the time! I put the powder in the palm of my hand and dip my pointer finger into the baby powder and just run my finger over my lashes. The powder never gets into my eyes or contacts and it works awesome for making my lashes look really full. It also seems to set the mascara and if it is a little wetter stops my mascara from splattering! I’m not sure what and how other people do it but my eyes are very sensitive and have never had powder go into my contacts or eyes?? And as for hairspray on your brows, spray the brush and sweep it over brows!!

  6. once upon a time people used hairspray as a makeup setter so no need to worry on getting it every where but yes you spray the brush for spot choice uses.

    • I remember being younger and doing a spritz of hairspray into the air then stepping into it with my eyes lightly closed to set my make up for the day. I use a fixing spray these days but if done right hairspray worked well and wasn’t sticky 🙂

  7. Hi
I’m not understanding why y’all don’t use a clear mascara for your eyebrows!!??
It’s simple, easy and best of all ya don’t have to spray it on your face AND you can take it with you when you go!
    Problem solved…one would think : /

    • Can’t find clear mascara anywhere where I live. I have literally spent hours in stores searching to no avail. Years ago when Elf makeup first came out they sold it, but now that it’s become very popular, clear mascara is no longer sold at our stores. No brand sells it in southern Arkansas. Definitely going to try the hairspray. 🙂 I’ve been using Coconut Oil mixed with Castor oil and Avocado Oil to help my eyelashes grow fuller and longer and to fill in my eyebrows and it’s not an overnight cure like they say on YouTube, but my eyebrows have filled in in places that haven’t grown in years!!! It’s an inexpensive miracle cure for those overplucked eyebrows that just won’t grow back.

    • I bought a sample box from QVC & it contained a tube of concealer from IT & it stayed on until I washed my face. The woman that markets the line has rosacia & it works really well. I saw online that IT also has foundation. I only saw it on QVC but I’m sure they have their own website. Hope this helps.

    • DON’T…. I had chemo also and they will come back as soon as your chemo is done. My hair came back dark brown instead of gray and its super thick too. Bear with it and just get a powder pencil brow definer from Anastasia (Beverley Hills) at Sephora. I got dark brown. I am wearing a blonde wig in this picture as I was bald from chemo and I used the brow definer from Anastasia.

  9. @Pammy I am not sure why you are having chemo done but you are beautiful with or without your eyebrows!!! Please do not feel like you have to tattoo your eyebrows on or draw them on to be beautiful!!! I know how chemo makes you feel and how it turns your image to yourself in the mirror but to the rest of us, we see your beauty and your strength!!! Especially your loved ones! If it makes you feel better go ahead and draw them on but PLEASE wait until your chemo is over to decide to do something so permanent because if and when they grow back it wont look right so just weigh your pros and cons before making that decision! Stay strong in your fight!!! @Bette i am 100% positiveyou were just as beautiful without that wig as you were with it! Happy to hear you could stop chemo i hope that means you won yoir fight!
You two are beautiful strong women! May your god/higher power bless you both with every breath you take! Good luck to both of you with your joirneys and fights!
